Hi Scott, Wow that was difficult, this is how far I came while drawing g along. I only had regular graphite pencils, so thats what I used.
Let me know your thoughts, love to get better.
I have to say, I love your approach to making a portrait, this works for me.
Hi Scott,
here is my sketch. I think that I should generally draw darker, although the photo always appears a little lighter than in reality.
Kind regards
Pia

I watched the video again and decided to try this drawing a second time. I used a 1 inch grid to locate her major features, which helped me to get a better likeness. My goal was to focus on the shading and light in the portrait. For me (today) having the major features locked down allowed me to enjoy drawing the light. Thank you Scott for the great videos.
Close enough for me.. These portrait challenges are great practice. Thanks Scott!
Hi, all! I was lucky enough to have some time this weekend to take a second shot at this. What a great learning experience! Tried diff paper and all willow charcoal on the second one (obviously to right).

This drawing was hard and took quite a bit of time. I used the Rives BFK paper which allowed me to erase portions of drawing and start over. I struggled with the nose (which was erased too much), and finally figured it out after re-watching Scott draw it. My woman is beautiful, but doesn’t completely capture the model. Thank you for including this portrait in the series.
Well this looks like someone….but maybe not the model. Always love the portrait practice though, and I’m looking forward to lessons in other media. Thanks Scott!
Thanks for another great drawing experience Scott! I love doing the portraits!!
I’ve never tried a whole face and didn’t finish, but this was a great lesson. Thanks! ?
Enjoyed this sketch, I got a little carried away with details LOL.
