Went back and tried the grapes.
I finally drew these grapes, and it took me a long, long time!! I had a rough start , and I always find it counter-intuitive for me to work with shape instead of a contour line drawing first. I just had to do lines. Lol. I think it turned out pretty good, but some of the proportions are off and the grape shapes a bit off as well. The texture on them was distracting me from the forms at times. Overall, a Much harder challenge than it looked!
I was very skeptical about this lesson at the beginning. Drawing the individual grapes seemed daunting but they seemed to just emerge. Using the side of the pencil has been my biggest learning. Thank you for another great lesson.
Thanks for another great lesson!
“Hello Scott! Just found you this week… so this is it! I like to draw still life! Still beginning. Thank you so much for streaming. A big thank you from Chile. Natalia.
Thanks a bunch Cindy. Yours feel more solid and sitting properly, well anchored in the space. Well done.
Hi Scott,
Here are my grapes on light blue pastel paper created with vine charcoal, charcoal pencils, and some touches of warm white and light pink soft pastels. As usually my tendency is toward linear rendering. It was really enjoyable !
Thank you! I used graphite, as usual 🙂
Wow you got the whole bunch to look like grapes. Sweet
Just re touched but didn’t really help. Looking forward to the whale.
Wonderful work here! I love the mark-making.
Welcome, Scott! This is beautiful. I believe we met a few years back while Plein Air painting 🙂 Nice touch with the graphite. Especially the bounce light in the shadows.
Great job! I love the texture!
Great job! I love the value control here. Beautiful tones!
This looks great! #60?! That’s amazing! Thank you for sharing this. Wonderful work!
This is my #60 of the drawing together lessons. Whew! Thank you, Scott, for keeping me sane and improving my drawing skills by a mile.
Grape session once again! Tried my hand on earth-toned Stonehenge Kraft Legion paper, with Derwent charcoal pencils , including white, plus a bit of graphite. The hunger it created almost made me forget to post the results. Merci and see you next week!
Wonderful challenge! Thank you, Scott! Looking forward to that whale 🙂
Hey Scott,
Thanks for leading today’s drawing session. I really enjoy drawing and painting with others so it was a nice time today.

Hi Scott!
Thanks for a great class. Drawing always takes me into another world in a good way. Here’s my grapes drawing, and have a good day.
