  1. Hi Scott,
I am 11 years old and just starting out here on Artists Network. I wanted to upload something finally because I have done a few but haven’t had an account. I thought that the cheetah was very fun even if I was just working with the reference photo, not the video.

  2. Hello Scott,
Was not able to attend the live session, but couldn’t resist to draw this week’s interesting subject. For the first time I used charcoal (vine, and pencils) on Stonehenge, 250 GSM, 11×14 paper by Legion, and love its texture, and results. Holds charcoal well, and allows to erase the marks to almost white surface, as you mentioned many times. Until today I used Strathmore, laid finished charcoal paper. From now on, the Stonehenge become my preferable substrate for charcoal. Finally my cheetah reached the finish line!
    Thank you Scott!

  3. Thanks Scott for the class…enjoyed dealing with the deep shadow. Used charcoal pencil on Canson paper. White gel ink pen for whiskers.

  4. First time posting here, but couldn’t resist drawing one of the big cats! Used graphite on sketch paper, so my darks aren’t as deep as I would’ve liked. Usually work with colored pencils, so building up an entire drawing at once is very different!

  5. Thanks Scott. Realized I should have downsized the paper size to 9.5×12 after I finished. Was able to keep up with you during the session and didn’t do any touch ups once session was done such as darkening right side of cheetah.

  6. Dear Scott
I really enjoyed drawing the cheetah. It’s great to work with such different materials. That’s how I learn a lot. The chair with the pens was also a big challenge. (I still uploaded my sketch.) Then I bought a book by Arthur L. Guptill about this technique. It’s very interesting and motivating.
    Kind regards
    Pia

  7. Hi Scott – This was the first time I joined for the live session and I am so glad I did! Though drawing along while listening to you and looking at the your drawing, and trying to also keep an eye on the comments was quite a task :). Thank you so much for the session!

  8. Thanks Scott to share with us your creative process live. To me it’s very inspiring. Animal drawing is not my kind of things but I gave it a try and I had a lot of fun! Thank you for the challenge.

  9. Last week, you challenged us to draw in ink. This week i challenged myself to draw with coloured pencils, again in your roughly 2 hour time commitment. Used a Legion Stonehenge Aqua Coldpress 100% coton acid free black 140 lb 9 by 12 in to save time, as this way the background was done. Prismacolor Premier pencils, about a dozen of them. Again, wish we could do a plein air, and would try with the coloured pencils. Hopefully soon as we move out of confinement. Thank you again for doing this…. it is really really helpful!
